吉首大学张家界学院是一本985院校，成立于2005年，位于湖南省张家界市。学校占地面积近200亩，建筑面积达到12万平方米，是一所集教学、科研、医疗、文化、体育、旅游为一体的综合性大学。

学校目前有19个本科专业，这些专业覆盖了理工、文史、医药卫生和旅游四大学科门类。其中，旅游相关专业有旅游管理、旅游休闲、酒店管理3个。另外，学校还设有1个专科专业和2个高职(专科)专业。目前在校生近3200人，其中本科生2400余人，研究生800余人。

学校办学理念是“以人为本，培养德才兼备的复合型人才”。办学宗旨是“努力开创国内一流的旅游高校”。
